DataFast vs Talivia
Talivia is the stronger choice for teams that want to operate an MIT-licensed, self-hosted revenue-attribution system and are prepared to maintain its PostgreSQL-based deployment. Its open-source edition covers core web analytics, session replay, sharing, import/export, and several payment integrations, but it is explicitly a subset of the hosted Talivia product and does not include some cloud integrations. Choose it

Decision guide
The practical reasons to choose either option, based on documented capabilities.
Choose Talivia if
- Founders and small teams needing self-hosted traffic-to-revenue attribution
- Teams requiring source access and an MIT-licensed analytics deployment
- Operators able to maintain Node.js or Docker infrastructure with PostgreSQL backups and migrations
Stay with DataFast if
- You need DataFast’s documented goals and multi-step conversion funnels; equivalent coverage is not established for Talivia’s open-source edition
- You depend on Meta Ads, Shopify payments, live maps or globe views, cookieless tracking, or web-to-app tracking; these are not documented in the supplied Talivia open-source materials
- You need managed hosting without maintaining PostgreSQL, secrets, backups, and application upgrades yourself
Deployment and operations
Talivia’s open-source edition is MIT-licensed and self-hosted. It can run from source with Node.js 22 or 24 LTS, pnpm 10+, and an empty PostgreSQL database, or through Docker Engine and Docker Compose. Required configuration includes DATABASE_URL and an APP_SECRET of at least 32 bytes. Operators must back up PostgreSQL and deployment-specific storage before upgrades; Prisma migrations are applied manually for source installations and automatically at container startup. Kubernetes support is not
Migration considerations
The open-source edition lists import/export, but the supplied materials do not document a DataFast-specific importer or format compatibility. Its baseline database migration only supports an empty database, and there is no migration path from a hosted Talivia database. A cautious transition is to run Talivia alongside the existing analytics tool and validate newly collected data before retiring DataFast.
