What it does
flatnotes is a distraction-free web note-taking application that stores content as ordinary Markdown files in a flat folder rather than a database. Users can create and edit notes through raw Markdown or WYSIWYG modes, organize them with tags, link notes with Wikilinks, and find content through full-text search.
The app provides a mobile-responsive interface, customizable home page, light and dark themes, multiple authentication options, and a RESTful API. It is designed for user-controlled storage, allowing Markdown files to be added, edited, or deleted outside the application while it runs. Deployment is documented through Docker or Docker Compose, with data mounted from a local directory; hosted deployment through PikaPods is also described.
