What it does
Atomic is a personal knowledge base built around “atoms,” or Markdown notes that are automatically chunked, embedded, tagged, and linked by semantic similarity. Users can capture content through the desktop app, iOS app, browser extension, RSS feeds, or MCP tools, then search and browse the resulting knowledge graph.
The product includes wiki synthesis with inline citations, scheduled research reports, agentic chat, hierarchical auto-tagging, a spatial canvas, and support for OpenRouter, Ollama, and OpenAI-compatible providers. It runs as a Tauri desktop app, a web frontend with a headless server, or both, and can be deployed locally with Docker Compose, Fly.io, or a standalone server.
