What it does
NoteDiscovery is a lightweight, self-hosted note-taking and knowledge-base application for personal wikis, second brains, privacy-conscious users, and small teams. Users write and organize notes stored as plain Markdown files, then find them through full-text search, tags, favorites, backlinks, an outline panel, and an interactive graph view.
The documented interface includes responsive layouts, themes, templates with dynamic placeholders, drawing support, LaTeX/MathJax, Mermaid diagrams, HTML export, printing, and optional password protection. Its built-in MCP server lets compatible AI assistants search, create, edit, organize, tag, and append to notes. It runs through Docker or Docker Compose, or directly with Python, and stores data on the user's server.
